Sectors

 

 

Sector I
Has four adjacent environments, trapezoidal and rectangular, the construction is to be placed in different phases, chronologically very close to each other, with the later be included among the thirteenth and fourteenth century. The brickwork is composed of large blocks of trachyte tufo alternated with segments in the reuse, the findings in the field, such as those made of metal, slag processing and traces of combustion, suggest the existence of a forge or workshop craft that was worked raw metal. Hypothesis determined by the existence of pools of trachyte and hydraulic system between the different environments.

 

Sector II
It consists of a large square on which there are three areas that form a single structure. Are present inside processing vats stone that may indicate, especially for the more recent chronological stage, an handicraft. The first and the second environment may be assignable as structures for use artisan and are in connection with each other through a median opening which can be accessed freely.
The third room could be attributed to a building certainly higher, in this regard, it is very likely that this should be read in conjunction with the facilities of another area of town, the V.

 

Sector III
It is located in the east of the city and is composed of 5 rooms. We can speak in this case of isolated urban rooms used as at home, barn, warehouse. The area in question has been the subject of systematic excavations until 1998 in collaboration with the École Française de Rome.
Stratigraphic investigations have found a phase of abandonment, to be placed in connection with a large fire that would lead to the collapse of the roof and bearing walls of the rooms, around 1350.

 

Sector IV
The field is located in the northwestern part of the city near the access door. You will set up a quadrangular building with two rooms, one was rebuilt in the pavement, the division into two parts is to be referred to a period after a phase of neglect. The structure may be placed in relation with the existence of a defense, while the end of attendance is placeable between the end of XIV and the first half of XV.

 

Sector V
The sector has been interested from systematic excavations since 1995, is placed in the western part of the town, at the area higher. It consists of two buildings, one of which is perfectly framed in a tower house at least two levels (following a diffuse type in the Italy center), this provided a ground cover in the environment and the existence of a cruise concrete staircase on the north wall. The second building is placed next to the previous one and is influenced in its development by pre-existing structural.

 

Sector VI
Located in the western part of the city includes the area of ​​the nucleus of the religious power of the city. A highlight of the area is the cathedral brought to light in the various excavations, which is the center of the religious center, it has been found in the baptistery of considerable interest is the crypt under the apse. The area is still being excavated.

 

Sector VII
It consists principally from the funeral that develops near the cathedral (sector VI) and is still being excavated, so it would be limited to provide preliminary data still incomplete.

Sector VIII
There is no information on the sector in question.

Sector IX
The field is located in the north-west close to a tower of the city walls and being the last in order of time, excavations began in 2009, to be opened is still being excavated.
